Obesity in the US has gotten out of control. My friend Genevieve used to be obese but got gastric bypass and has lost over 200 pounds. I am going to go see a documentary that she is in about obesity, and how she has overcome the disease. It is called Killer at Large.
Before G, had her surgery she was close to 350, and has lost 200 pounds. She had the surgery 6 years ago, and looks amazing! Check out this girl!!
I work with her at eBay and she is the sweetest girl. She is very open about her past health issue, and has helped a lot of people prepare for their own surgery or just seek some options that they have. Here is a video she made about her journey...
If you get a chance to see this documentary do it for sure. I am going to go see it tonight at the Tower theater at 6:30, the theater is on 9th and 9th.
Last week I reunited with some good friends from high school. Go Braves! Mrs. Emilee Munday was visiting Utah, so we got most of the old crew together and went to dinner. Lindsey, Emilee and I met up at the gateway and went to what Emilee calls, Z teejais, but we went to Z tejas. Sometimes Spanish words are hard to say.
It was awesome meeting up and catching up on the past few years. These two lovely ladies are married, so they were prepping me for my upcoming nuptials.
It was only a matter of time before I hurt myself while 4 wheeling... On Saturday I went out to ride with Lee and my brother Andy. We rode for a few hours, and then we found this steep hill. I watched Lee and Andy go up it just fine, so I figured I could make it. I threw my bike into gear and got to the top of the hill, but then my bike bogged out and wouldn't go any further. My only thing I could do was to ride the wheeler backwards down the hill. The hill was waaaay steep and on the way back down I must have hit a bump, which resulted in my 4 wheeler rolling twice and me getting thrown from the bike. Luckily I didn't get stuck under the bike. I have tons of bruises and cuts on my legs and arms, but all in all I am ok. Let this be a lesson, just because the boys can do it, does not mean that you can!!
My 4 wheeler is currently damaged. It runs just fine, but the plastics are all scratched up and I broke off one of headlights. My clutch handle rotated half way around so that will have to be fixed as well. Luckily Lee is a handy mechanic.
This is the cutest story I have heard in a while....
My mom was looking on the internet to see what was happening for the 4th of July this weekend and came across an art exhibit with some photography by someone who's name she recognized. The persons name was someone she had dated in high school, and they were very close, but then he went on mission and then while he was gone she moved down to Utah. My mother grew up in Montana. I guess this guy was really something because my grandma wanted my mom to marry this guy. My mom figured it couldn't hurt to call and see if this guy was who she thought it was, and as it turns out, it was.
It seems like these two people have been trying to find each other. When my family lived in Bountiful, this guy lived in North Salt lake, and now that I live in Midvale with my mom, he lives like 10 blocks east of where we live. He shops at the same grocery store, and even rides the same trax train my mom rides. My mom told me about this and I thought it was crazy! My mom and this guy have randomly tried to find each other from searching on the internet, or through their high school directory.
These two went out last night, and I guess it was as if they hadn't been apart. They hadn't seen each other in some 37 years, but they got all caught up and decided to not let their second chance go away this time. My mom is acting like she is 20 again she seems so happy, I am so happy for her to have found what she was looking for, even if it took her 37 years to pick up where she left off.
I hate it when people have blogs, but they don't update them regularly. Its super annoying to me. Like, why have a blog if you don't use it? Well I understand why people don't update their blogs, because after a while you don't know what to blog about. I have what I call, bloggers block. Very similar to writers block, but not as important.
Lately I have fallen back in love with old music that I forgot about. I have been listening to old Sufjan Stevens, Joshua Radin (who I love) and a bunch others. It is so interesting to me how music can lift you up, or take you down depending on the lyrics. For instance, one of my favorite songs is Today, by Joshua Radin. Here are the lyrics:
Shoelaces untied you can dry your eyes perfect shadows alive behind us this is the day i make you mine the way your hair lies sometimes unrecognized all the way from these today on a train nothing to say if theres still time but you are the one i've been wating for today and here comes the sun that's been baiting on today lately i've lost my tongue today you found the sun oh no not long has grown well i thank god u came along you are the one i've been waitng for today and here comes the sun that's been baiting on today you looked right through me when there was no one else sat beside you and became myself today, today
you are the one i've been waiting for today and here comes the sun thats been baiting on today
I have this song in my playlist that is at the bottom of this blog, for sure listen to it. I love this song because it talks about how grateful he is to have found someone, and how perfect that someone is for him. I am going to walk down the aisle to this song, and have my mom's friend sing it, it should be amazing. Joshua Radin is coming in concert soon!! Lee was cute enough to tell me about it because he knows how much I love this guy and said he would take me, even though Lee thinks my music choices are nerdy.
I cant wait to marry Lee, he is my best friend. **sigh**
This blog is random. All in all, I think I will blog more often about awesome songs and stuff, so stay tuned!
