The Zoo

Last Friday I took the day off so I could watch my nephews. We went to the zoo, it was super hot, but it was fun to see all the animals.

Parker was so excited to see all the animals. I asked him what animal he wanted to see the most, and he told me that he wants to see the stinky ones. Tanner was a big help with his little brothers, he is so grown up. Conner is 3, which means tantrums through out the zoo but for the most part he was ok. Except for when I asked him to hold my hand so he wouldn't get lost, he would yell "Dont touch me!!!". I think people thought I beat him...

The last animal we saw was the white alligator. He isnt albino, he just has some random skin disease, and thats why he is white. I tried to educate myself before I took the boys to the zoo, so that way they thought aunt Katie was super smart. Turns out there are only 10 gators like this in the whole world. He had blue, almost purple eyes, and in the same place they had baby alligators too.

We wrapped up the day by getting lunch and then going home to have Andy and Lee tease the boys until Matt came to pick them up. Who said teasing isnt good for ya?

My dress

So ignore my face. My mom was taking pictures when I was not aware she was taking pictures. I really was excited....

This is the dress, it should be ready in a few weeks, and then I can add my last little detail to it, and its done!

Monday, July 28

And just like that, the sun shine agains..

Today is a Monday for sure! Work is ok, but then there are all kinds of things that I have been reported to me today. I hate being stressed out. I love how a certain song or video can completely change your mood. Whenever I am annoyed or sad I watch this certain video on youtube. It is hilarious. Its this little red head kid, who is soooo excited to be in a school program. I love his enthusiasm and how the other kids next to him react.

Be sure to watch the whole thing, its hilarious all to the end.

The Dress...

My dress is here. I have tried it on, and gotten it fitted. The alterations should be done mid August. I have pictures of the dress... but I totally forgot to load them. I did show Lee my dress, which I know is against the "rules". But the "rules" are lame.

The Dentist AKA Torture...

Yesterday I went to the dentist. I wasn't worried about it, since I had braces I felt like I could handle to pain associated with the dentist. I hadn't been in for a checkup in 3 or 4 years so I thought I should get it taken care of before I get married...

Well, as part of having braces I have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth because even after having my braces, two teeth keep moving, so they put that sucker in there to hold my teeth tight. Part of my retainer had broken off, so the dentist felt that he needed to trim the entire retainer with a drill....that felt really nice. Nothing like a drill being put into your gums...

I have to go back two more times, because I am having my fillings replaced to be white, rather than the gorgeous silver ones I have now. They will do one side at a time. The one perk about going to a new dentist is they offer free teeth whitening, so after I get all my work done my teeth will be glow in the dark white. Much like that one episode of Friends when Ross whitened his teeth...

Chinese Astrology

Today my work had a birthday celebration for people who's birthdays were in May and June. They had an activity about Chinese Astrology. Here is what I have learned...

Chinese Astrology is based on the year you were born, rather than the month. I am a tiger and Lee is a pig..

Contrary to its rather negative reputation in the West, the Pig of Chinese Astrology may be the most generous and honorable Sign of the Zodiac. Pigs are nice to a fault and possess impeccable manners and taste. They have so much of the perfectionist in them that others may be inclined to perceive them as snobs, but this is a misconception. Pigs are simply possessed of a truly luxurious nature, one that delights in finery and riches (in surroundings, food, lovemaking and otherwise). This Sign believes in the best qualities of mankind and certainly doesn't consider itself to be superior. Pigs also care a great deal about friends and family and work hard to keep everyone in their life happy. Helping others is a true pleasure for the Pig, who feels best when everyone else is smiling.

A Pig with no one around to appreciate its giving nature is a sad sight. Pigs are so magnanimous they can appear almost saintly; this can lead some less-than-well-intentioned souls to stomp all over this Sign, and the bad news is, the Pig will take the blows! Pigs make great companions in part because of their refusal to see the more negative or base qualities in a partner, but that rose-colored view can lead to this Sign's allowing itself to be taken advantage of. Contrary to their seemingly benign dispositions, however, Pigs can be quite venomous in response to being crossed by a lover, friend or business partner.

Pigs are highly intelligent creatures, forever studying, playing and probing in their quest for greater knowledge. They can be misinterpreted as being lazy, however, due to their love of reveling in the good stuff; this Sign could happily spend hours on end making love, napping, taking a long bubble bath or dallying over an incredible spread of rich foods. Pigs tend to make wonderful life partners due to their hearts of gold and their love of family. Even so, Pigs can be rather exclusive, choosing to spend time with those who will appreciate them most and ignore the rest of the populace. Pigs would do well to realize that there's more to life than being needed. When they open up their world to a diverse group of people, they will truly bloom. On the other hand, they have a quick temper and sometimes have to pay for their rash impulsiveness. However, no one can overcome their inner strength; they have such tremendous fortitude and jump the goal post very time. The Pig will have an abundance of good fortune and an abundance of years. The Pig will know a life filled with serenity and riches.

Tigers may not be the king of the jungle, but these striped cats are no softies! Magnetic and self-possessed, Tigers are born leaders. They have an air of authority that prompts others to fall in line, which is exactly how they like it. Although they are magnetically charming and fun to be around, Tigers like to go it alone sometimes too. A Tiger's main interest is in following its ambitions -- and maintaining control.

Tigers are courageous beyond compare and generally come out ahead in battle, be it in the boardroom or the bedroom. Seduction is one area where the Tiger is definitely king! Noble and warm-hearted, Tigers have a natural, raw appeal that's extremely attractive to other Signs. They're not just about attraction, though; ever on the side of right, Tigers will fight the good fight to the bitter end if the cause is worthy. Opponents are wise to fear this feline.

A bit of caution is a good thing around Tigers, since they can pounce without warning. They experience mood swings and often feel things more intensely than others, the latter quality being both good and bad. They can react poorly under stress and are prone to emotional outbursts. This Sign's bristling sensitivity can send friend and foe running for cover.

A lesson that Tigers would be well-served to learn is moderation in all things. Once these cats can find their center and direct their considerable energies toward worthwhile endeavors (as opposed to racing through life), they will accomplish much.

The Tiger and the Pig can make a good match, but it will require a bit of extra flexibility on both sides and a lot of mutual trust. The Pig is generally very kind, well-mannered and generous and tends to see only the best in other people; this in itself makes a relationship with this Sign easier. The Tiger, too, is generally quite affable and good-spirited; however, there are certain behaviors and situations that can turn both of these Signs' good spirits into bad moods. For the Tiger, restrictive relationships, possessive lovers and rigid expectations can be just cause to run away. Freedom and autonomy are incredibly important to the Tiger, who will do whatever it takes to ensure it retains that freedom. The Pig values connection, support and a steady home life and will very likely find the Tiger's "lone wolf" character to be unsettling at best. If these two Signs live together, and especially if their relationship is romantic, they will have to make sure to allow room for their differences -- the Pig will have to excuse the Tiger's roaming and the Tiger will have to offer the Pig as much support and reassurance as possible.

A romantic relationship may actually be the most likely sort between these two. The Tiger is magnetically attractive, generally very sexily appealing to any of the Signs. The Pig possesses its own sexy mystique and is also very much a sensualist, reveling in the simple but luxurious pleasures of food, lovemaking, even sleeping and bathing. As long as the Tiger doesn't feel restricted by the Pig's love of home comforts, the Tiger will be happy to play along -- for a while. Inevitably, this Sign's urge to roam, explore and experience will kick in again. As business partners these two can create a strong company as long as their goals are aligned. Though a sensualist by nature, the Pig is far from lazy; this is a hard-working Sign whose efforts will back up the Tiger's courageous leadership and innovative ideas.

This has definitely peaked my interest in astrology. I usually think that astrology is a waste of time..but its kind of interesting so I am making it a point to learn more about it. I am going to the book store tonight!

The new last name...

So a lot of people have asked.... So i figure I should blog about it. My new last name will be Schultz. There you have it...

Wedding junk...

Tomorrow I am taking the day off to try and accomplish a few things that are on my list of things to do for the wedding...

1) I need to find shoes that I want to wear with my dress, because it is getting fitted on Saturday!! It is finally here. I am going to go see it on Wednesday!! I will post pictures later..

2) I am going ring shopping with my friend Genevieve for our fiances. Lee wants a white gold, comfort fit band with some bling, but not to much. I am also going to have his ring engraved so I need to order that as well.

3)And finally I am going to make it to the printers if it kills me and get my invitations taken care of, so they can be put together.

Which just leads me to figuring out what I want to do for our engagement photo's. If you have any ideas please let me know. I want to do something in the city or something random like that, only because our wedding will be up in the canyon so I want something on the other side of the scale. My mom's boyfriend Allen, is a photographer and he is going to take my bridals and our engagement photos...so they will turn out awesome. I am going to take my bridals at the salt flats, and I am going to take them with Lee. I know its against tradition for him to see me in my dress, but I dont care...

Killer at Large

Obesity in the US has gotten out of control. My friend Genevieve used to be obese but got gastric bypass and has lost over 200 pounds. I am going to go see a documentary that she is in about obesity, and how she has overcome the disease. It is called Killer at Large.

Before G, had her surgery she was close to 350, and has lost 200 pounds. She had the surgery 6 years ago, and looks amazing! Check out this girl!!

I work with her at eBay and she is the sweetest girl. She is very open about her past health issue, and has helped a lot of people prepare for their own surgery or just seek some options that they have. Here is a video she made about her journey...

If you get a chance to see this documentary do it for sure. I am going to go see it tonight at the Tower theater at 6:30, the theater is on 9th and 9th.

Catching up with some B=town friends

Last week I reunited with some good friends from high school. Go Braves! Mrs. Emilee Munday was visiting Utah, so we got most of the old crew together and went to dinner. Lindsey, Emilee and I met up at the gateway and went to what Emilee calls, Z teejais, but we went to Z tejas. Sometimes Spanish words are hard to say.

It was awesome meeting up and catching up on the past few years. These two lovely ladies are married, so they were prepping me for my upcoming nuptials.

4 Wheeling accidents...

It was only a matter of time before I hurt myself while 4 wheeling... On Saturday I went out to ride with Lee and my brother Andy. We rode for a few hours, and then we found this steep hill. I watched Lee and Andy go up it just fine, so I figured I could make it. I threw my bike into gear and got to the top of the hill, but then my bike bogged out and wouldn't go any further. My only thing I could do was to ride the wheeler backwards down the hill. The hill was waaaay steep and on the way back down I must have hit a bump, which resulted in my 4 wheeler rolling twice and me getting thrown from the bike. Luckily I didn't get stuck under the bike. I have tons of bruises and cuts on my legs and arms, but all in all I am ok. Let this be a lesson, just because the boys can do it, does not mean that you can!!

My 4 wheeler is currently damaged. It runs just fine, but the plastics are all scratched up and I broke off one of headlights. My clutch handle rotated half way around so that will have to be fixed as well. Luckily Lee is a handy mechanic.

Second Chances

This is the cutest story I have heard in a while....

My mom was looking on the internet to see what was happening for the 4th of July this weekend and came across an art exhibit with some photography by someone who's name she recognized. The persons name was someone she had dated in high school, and they were very close, but then he went on mission and then while he was gone she moved down to Utah. My mother grew up in Montana. I guess this guy was really something because my grandma wanted my mom to marry this guy. My mom figured it couldn't hurt to call and see if this guy was who she thought it was, and as it turns out, it was.

It seems like these two people have been trying to find each other. When my family lived in Bountiful, this guy lived in North Salt lake, and now that I live in Midvale with my mom, he lives like 10 blocks east of where we live. He shops at the same grocery store, and even rides the same trax train my mom rides. My mom told me about this and I thought it was crazy! My mom and this guy have randomly tried to find each other from searching on the internet, or through their high school directory.

These two went out last night, and I guess it was as if they hadn't been apart. They hadn't seen each other in some 37 years, but they got all caught up and decided to not let their second chance go away this time. My mom is acting like she is 20 again she seems so happy, I am so happy for her to have found what she was looking for, even if it took her 37 years to pick up where she left off.

Bloggers Block

I hate it when people have blogs, but they don't update them regularly. Its super annoying to me. Like, why have a blog if you don't use it? Well I understand why people don't update their blogs, because after a while you don't know what to blog about. I have what I call, bloggers block. Very similar to writers block, but not as important.

Lately I have fallen back in love with old music that I forgot about. I have been listening to old Sufjan Stevens, Joshua Radin (who I love) and a bunch others. It is so interesting to me how music can lift you up, or take you down depending on the lyrics. For instance, one of my favorite songs is Today, by Joshua Radin. Here are the lyrics:

Shoelaces untied
you can dry your eyes
perfect shadows alive
behind us
this is the day i make you mine
the way your hair lies
sometimes unrecognized
all the way from these today
on a train
nothing to say if theres still time
but you are the one
i've been wating for today
and here comes the sun that's been baiting on today
lately i've lost my tongue
today you found the sun
oh no not long has grown
well i thank god u came along
you are the one i've been waitng for today
and here comes the sun that's been baiting on today
you looked right through me when there was no one else
sat beside you and became myself
today, today

you are the one i've been waiting for today
and here comes the sun thats been baiting on today

I have this song in my playlist that is at the bottom of this blog, for sure listen to it. I love this song because it talks about how grateful he is to have found someone, and how perfect that someone is for him. I am going to walk down the aisle to this song, and have my mom's friend sing it, it should be amazing. Joshua Radin is coming in concert soon!! Lee was cute enough to tell me about it because he knows how much I love this guy and said he would take me, even though Lee thinks my music choices are nerdy.

I cant wait to marry Lee, he is my best friend. **sigh**

This blog is random. All in all, I think I will blog more often about awesome songs and stuff, so stay tuned!
